Finance Committee backs auditor Saturday work pay
Easthampton's Finance Committee recommended a reserve fund transfer to pay the city auditor for extra Saturday hours.
City Council · Meeting of September 23, 2026
Easthampton's Finance Committee recommended a reserve fund transfer to pay the city auditor for extra Saturday hours. The mayor said 12 Saturdays were identified with the auditor and the council president, chosen over an outside consultant who could cost potentially $195 an hour and would need time to learn the city's software. The auditor said she has received the outstanding information from other departments and that most remaining work is hers, ahead of a December 31 tax rate recap.
A member said the transfer was needed to keep free cash from being pushed into next year. The committee voted by voice to send it to the full council and asked for a status list at each Finance meeting until the backlog is cleared.
