School Committee tables out-of-time program

School Committee · Meeting of February 12, 2026

Northampton's School Committee tabled the out-of-time program and three related job descriptions. Members said a Dec. 11 unanimous vote had sent the plan to the Budget and Property and Curriculum subcommittees first. Dr. Bonner warned that tabling would delay hiring a director and site coordinators.

The amendment requires the subcommittees to meet before March 12. Chair Gina-Louise Sciarra voted no on the roll call. The committee also directed the superintendent to have Director Holloway meet with CPAC and provide requested missed-services data.

It accepted a $290,317 appropriation and approved a March 18 half day and the 2026-2027 calendar. The draft cell phone policy was referred to Rules and Policy. A member said the tabling reflected a need to "adhere to our own votes."
