NORTHAMPTON — The Rules and Policy Subcommittee voted 2-0 to send a revised field trip policy to the full School Committee. The two members present also voted 2-0 to remove the separate procedures policy, IJOA-1, after Jewell's edits moved operational details out of the policy. The revised text requires private vehicles to meet driving age, licensing, consent and insurance requirements, and calls for carriers licensed by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
Superintendent Anna Maria Azarloza's draft cell phone policy drew suggested edits, including "bell to bell" language and a school-based way for families to reach students, and was not voted on. The subcommittee voted 2-0 to have the superintendent and clerk sort policies into immediate, annual and as-they-arise groups.
