Northampton's School Committee corrected its FY27 budget vote and approved revised superintendent interview questions.
School Committee · Meeting of April 15, 2026
Northampton's School Committee corrected its FY27 budget vote and approved revised superintendent interview questions. Vice Chair Alena Bartoli moved to restate the April 9 motion as a $56,317,261 operating budget, saying it "must be made clear how much is being requested for the city appropriation." It passed with five yes votes and an abstention from Chair Gina-Louise Sciarra. Members then voted 6-0 to approve the interview questions after dropping one, combining another and adding language on trust and transparency.
In a first reading of field trip policy changes, a staff member said new cancellation language "is simply adding language of what is already true." A staff member named Bobby told members the district had spent 68 percent of its budget with 76 percent of the year elapsed, and a $250,000 state special education earmark was pending.
