Regional School Committee appoints new treasurer

School Committee · Meeting of May 12, 2026

AMHERST — The Amherst-Pelham Regional School Committee appointed Kristin Omai-Yazurski as district treasurer. The vote was unanimous, and she starts June 1. Omai-Yazurski is Northampton's assistant treasurer, and the current treasurer, Jill, retires at the end of August, leaving a three-month handoff.

The committee also reviewed moving 145 Chestnut Street Academy students into the middle school. Staff rated regional impact as low, moderate or high, and one member said impact on seventh and eighth grade is "high." The Town of Amherst's $450,000 for the move was also discussed. Members agreed to start by updating the regional agreement for legal compliance, and the chair said she would contact DESE.

Members voted 9-0 to enter executive session.
