AMHERST — The Amherst-Pelham Regional School Committee voted 8-0 to adopt a composite evaluation rating Superintendent Herman's overall performance as "needs improvement," hours after more than 27 district administrators defended her leadership in a letter read during public comment. The letter said Herman and Amherst committee member Sarah Marshall "appear to have been muted or silenced on numerous occasions when they attempted to speak during the meetings." Herman told the committees she will resign effective June 30, 2027, after completing her current contract. The Pelham School Committee separately voted 4-0, with one member absent, to approve its own evaluation of Herman.
On the regional panel's evaluation, members cited technical failures in the district's "Perform" software that forced manual compilation of roughly 75 pages of data, and voted 7-0 to rate one disputed standard "proficient" before adopting the full evaluation.
