Easthampton Opens Cooling Centers Ahead of Incoming Heatwave

With a heatwave on the way, the city of Easthampton is opening cooling centers to help residents stay safe in the coming days.

The city announced Monday that cooling centers will be available for the public ahead of an incoming heatwave. The alert was posted June 29 through the city's official News Flash system. Residents seeking relief from the heat can find location and hours details on the city's website at https://www.easthamptonma.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?aid=701.

Separately, the city's homepage flags an ongoing lane restriction on the Liberty Street Bridge, a reminder for drivers to plan accordingly during the summer construction season. Water use restrictions, posted in April, also remain in effect — relevant given the expected heat.

COMING UP

The Easthampton Public Library is hosting Technology Help sessions on July 1 and again on July 8 — a recurring program for residents needing one-on-one assistance with devices or digital tools. On July 10, Arts in the Park returns with a performance by The Hard Knox Band.

On the civic calendar, the Community Garden Committee meets July 2. The Planning Board and City Council Public Safety Committee are both scheduled for July 7. July 8 brings a busy slate: the Cultural District Subcommittee, Easthampton City Arts Public Art Committee, and Nashawannuck Pond Committee all meet that evening.
