Sciarra Appoints Parasiliti Director of Public Works

Mayor Gina-Louise Sciarra has appointed Richard Parasiliti, a 37-year city employee, as Northampton's new director of Public Works, filling the department's top job after a monthslong search.

Sciarra announced the appointment Friday, saying it followed a thorough search for the department's next leader. Parasiliti has spent 37 years with the City of Northampton, including time working directly within the Department of Public Works, according to the mayor's office. His elevation to director puts a long-tenured internal employee in charge of the department responsible for the city's roads, water and sewer systems, and other infrastructure.
