Other Committee · Meeting of October 7, 2026
NORTHAMPTON — The Northampton Community Preservation Committee approved minutes unanimously but deferred decisions on two funding requests totaling more than $1.3 million. Valley Community Development Corporation's executive director, identified only as Alexis, asked for $1 million toward a 42-unit affordable housing building at the former probate court site on King Street, calling the sum "truly our gap" given passive-house and compliance costs. Broad Brook Coalition board member Christina White sought $134,191 to replace a failing dock at Fitzgerald Lake, saying the current site "doesn't buy us much time at all" as sediment fills the lake.
The roll call on the April 15 minutes passed 8-0. Public comment on both requests is set for November 4, with committee deliberation expected November 18.
