Ware Select Board unanimously approves brewery licenses and promotes two officers to sergeant. The board voted four-zero Tuesday to grant Fieldcrest Brewing Company, LLC a full suite of licenses — including a farmer-series pouring permit, entertainment, amusement device, and common victualler license — for a new taproom at 11 East Main Street, with owner Adam Field saying he hopes to open "some time in March." The board also unanimously appointed Officers Patrick St. Pierre and Derek Ames as permanent sergeants after a December assessment center that the chief said drew praise from outside evaluators: "complimenting the department on the caliber of candidates that we have." Member Ken Willett, attending by Zoom, flagged a critical staffing gap after a three-alarm Pleasant Street fire left no personnel in the station, and asked the board to invite the fire chief to discuss the issue — the town has twice failed to win grant funding for additional positions.

Town Manager Stuart reported that Fannie Mae, owner of the burned Pleasant Street property through foreclosure, attended a meeting Monday and agreed to cover demolition and cleanup costs at no expense to taxpayers.
