Select Board · Meeting of October 27, 2026
SOUTHAMPTON — The Southampton Select Board unanimously authorized its chair to sign a letter supporting a regional grant to fund a shared opioid case manager with East Hampton. The roughly $17,700 two-year local share would come from existing opioid settlement funds, pending a RISE Massachusetts grant decision expected in February. Separately, seniors packed public comment to criticize communication around weeks of Senior Center room closures tied to mold and heating failures, with resident Christine Canton saying "we pay taxes here and the demographic will tell you probably we pay the most taxes of anyone." Town Administrator Scott said a broken belt and software fault, since repaired, caused the HVAC issues, and the board declined a $6,000 ductwork cleaning request.
The board also voted to hold a special town meeting December 12 at Norris Elementary School, authorized a bid invitation for the Conant Park spray park despite a looming June 2027 grant deadline worth over $150,000, and read warrants totaling $2,277,377.67.
