EASTHAMPTON — The Board of Public Works voted 3-0 to recommend approval of a one-year fiscal 2027 indirect cost allocation for the enterprise funds. Thomas Malsbury, Leah Strode and Gilson Hogan voted yes by roll call. Total enterprise indirect costs stand at about $2.7 million, and the agreement replaces a flat-percentage arrangement last updated in fiscal 2015.
Planning now has its own 10 percent line, and the enterprise recently moved $1.15 million from retained earnings into a stabilization account. Speakers said the rate structure should keep reserves above a 25 percent threshold even though a 40 percent target is out of reach for now. The board also left open whether to charge benefits for a new part-time collections clerk, a question a member suggested studying next year.
