Plainfield Select Board Adds Part-Time Officer, Expands Executive Assistant Hours and Pay
PLAINFIELD — March 10, 2026 — Plainfield Select Board votes to hire part-time officer and restructure executive assistant role. The board unanimously appointed a Smith College Police Department officer as a part-time Plainfield officer at $26 per hour — up from the current rate of just over $23 — relying on salary funds freed by Acting Chief Justin Lishfield's unpaid medical leave. In the same meeting, the board voted unanimously to expand the executive assistant position from 20 hours per week at $25,000 annually to 30 hours at $37,500, reclassifying it as a salaried, benefits-eligible role; the change requires Finance Committee approval as part of the FY2027 budget. The board also approved a $1,396.50 KP Law payment, appointed Michael Malley to the Cemetery Commission, and set a special town meeting for April 7 to authorize approximately $14,000 in current-year funds for basketball court renovations. The board received fiscal notices showing a FY2027 Chapter 90 road allocation of $343,561.30 and a Mohawk Trail Regional School District assessment of $1,218,713.
