EASTHAMPTON — July 15, 2026 — Easthampton Finance Committee approves $3,129 year-end reserve transfer to close salary gaps. The City Council Finance Committee voted unanimously on July 15 to recommend a $3,129.55 reserve fund transfer to the full City Council, acting on the final day of the 15-day statutory window municipalities have to resolve fiscal-year deficits before they must be raised through taxation. A city finance official attributed the shortfall to an 80-hour workload that had been budgeted at 70, plus a payroll rounding discrepancy for a part-time clerk and a professional-services deficit in the city clerk's office, saying "I conservatively calculated, assuming that I won't have to do additional work — but it ended up being that I will need another $1,300 in my account." Mayoral approval for the transfers had been obtained in advance of the committee vote.
