EASTHAMPTON — The Commission on Disability approved its minutes and spent its Sept. 10 meeting on strategic planning. Members reaffirmed accountability, connection and equity as guiding values and listed publicity, funding and recruitment as challenges. Eli Damon reported that the Easthampton chamber of commerce and an LGBTQIA+ chamber will include the commission's accessibility checklist in new-member packets, asking businesses to post it and refill it for each event.
A member said an advisory committee "is only so good as people will listen to said advice." A letter to the City Council on disability parking fines was held for the next agenda.
