Amherst Youth Hockey opens 2026-27 registration as summer sports season winds down.

AMHERST -- With no high school games on the schedule this week, Amherst's youth sports spotlight falls on registration news from the Amherst Hockey Association and Amherst Youth Hockey, both of which have opened sign-ups for the 2026-27 season.

YOUTH LEAGUES

The Amherst Hockey Association has opened co-ed travel registration for the 2026-27 season, along with a "Try Hockey for Free" program and registration for the Western Mass Liberty Girls teams. The AHA serves players ages 4 to 17 and fields co-ed travel teams in the Greater Springfield Junior Hockey League and girls' teams in the New England Girls' Hockey League and the Connecticut Girls Hockey League.

Amherst Youth Hockey (the Amherst Knights) has also launched its 2026-27 Recreation and MOHL League registration. The club additionally announced that player Cece Bizub was selected to USA Hockey's 2026 Girls National 15 Player Development Camp, a notable individual honor for an Amherst skater.

On the diamond, Amherst Baseball, Inc. — which operates alongside Hadley-Amherst Softball and serves children ages 4 and up from Amherst, Hadley, Pelham, Shutesbury, and Leverett — posted no new game results or announcements this week. The organization's site notes an MLB Pitch, Hit & Run registration reminder and a partnership with Rutto Bats for custom league bats.

The Amherst Youth Lacrosse spring season, run through Amherst Recreation, was scheduled to run through late May or early June, with no new activity reported for this period.
