Amherst Town Council To Hold Public Forum On Out-Of-Budget Appropriations Aug. 17

AMHERST — Amherst's Town Council will hold a public forum on appropriations outside the annual budget on Monday, Aug. 17, a session mandated by the Town Charter, while a heavy-rain-damaged stretch of Potwine Lane remains closed to through traffic.

TOWN HALL

The Town Council will hold a Public Forum on Appropriations Outside the Annual Budget on Monday, Aug. 17, at 6:30 p.m., in accordance with Section 5.6 of the Town Charter, according to the town's News Flash. The forum is required before officials can act on town spending that falls outside the regular annual budget process.

Potwine Lane is closed to through traffic between house numbers 216 and 256 after heavy rains compromised the roadway, the town announced. Each end of the road remains accessible via Middle Street or West Street while repairs are addressed.

The town is also reminding voters that the State Primary Election falls on Tuesday, Sept. 1. Residents must be registered to vote in Amherst and can choose to vote by mail, vote absentee, vote early in person, or vote on Election Day.
