Amherst Recreation Department Relocates to Wildwood Amid Summer Season Launch
Amherst Recreation has a new home just in time for summer: the department has relocated to Wildwood, the town announced Thursday morning.

Residents looking to connect with Amherst Recreation this summer should head to a new address — the department has moved to the Wildwood location, according to a town News Flash posted June 26. The town did not specify a street address in the announcement, so residents should check the town website at amherstma.gov for contact details before making the trip.
Separately, the town homepage is carrying a pair of active alerts residents should note. Puffer's Pond swimming conditions have been updated — details are available through the town's alert system — and Level 2 water use restrictions are now in effect. The restrictions stem from Connecticut River Valley drought conditions, though town officials say Amherst's water supply itself remains stable. The restrictions are being implemented in accordance with the town's Water Management Act Registration.
Also on the town's agenda: Town Manager Paul Bockelman is seeking one resident to join the Department of Public Works Building Committee, which is advising on design and construction of a new DPW facility. Application review begins July 6. Feedback on Downtown Design Standards is also being accepted through July 1.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Amherst Town Library's summer reading program, "Plant a Seed, Read!," is underway through August 7, with books, challenges, prizes, and events for all ages. This Friday, June 26, the library hosts Bubbly Babies at 10 a.m., and upcoming children's programs include Little Art Makers on June 29, Sprinkler Storytime on June 30, and Parade Bike Decorating on July 2. On the adult side, the ATL Reads Fiction Book Club meets in person June 30 at 1 p.m., and a Cookbook Club gathering is set for July 9 at noon. Note that the library will be closed Friday, July 3 through Sunday, July 5, reopening July 6.
Out in the community, the town's Pride celebration continues through the weekend, with events at The Mill District General Store and Local Art Gallery on both Friday and Saturday. The Amherst Community Band Concert is scheduled for Saturday, June 27, and the Amherst Farmers Market runs that same morning.
