Amherst Enforces Level 2 Drought Restrictions as Rental Deadline Hits Monday

AMHERST — The town enters the week of June 14 with two water-related alerts in effect and a rental-registration deadline arriving Monday, while a Town Council meeting and several board sessions headline the week ahead.

The town homepage is carrying two active alerts. A Puffer's Pond swimming update is posted — residents should check amherstma.gov for the latest conditions before heading to the pond. Separately, Amherst is now enforcing Level 2 significant drought water-use restrictions. The town notes its water supply is stable and not currently threatened, but the restrictions are required under the town's Water Management Act registration given the Connecticut River Valley drought. Residents should reduce outdoor watering and consult the town website for specifics on what activities are restricted under Level 2.

Rental property owners face a hard deadline tomorrow, June 15: annual Rental Registration Renewal permits must be submitted by that date to avoid a late fee. Owners who have not yet renewed should do so through the town's online permits portal.
