Amherst Baseball and Hadley-Amherst Softball are touting a string of 2026 championships as Amherst Hockey Association opens registration for its 2026-27 season.
AMHERST -- Local youth sports organizations reported season highlights and early registration news this week, even as the region's fall and winter leagues began looking ahead to the next school year.
YOUTH LEAGUES -- Amherst Baseball, Inc., which also operates Hadley-Amherst Softball, is highlighting several 2026 championship results on its website: the Amherst Royals won the 50/70 Frontier League 2026 championship, the Amherst Koufax Hurricanes won the spring 2026 WMSBL title, and Hadley-Amherst 12u Softball finished as regular-season champions. The organization, which traces its roots to Amherst Little League's founding in 1952, serves players from Amherst, Hadley, Pelham, Shutesbury and Leverett.
Amherst Hockey Association, a member of the Greater Springfield Junior Hockey League, has opened registration for its 2026-27 coed season. The association is also registering skaters for a "Try Hockey for Free" session and for its Western Mass Liberty girls' program, which competes in the New England Girls' Hockey League and the Connecticut Girls Hockey League.
