Southampton Soccer Association says it needs more volunteer coaches and commissioners before it can reopen youth registration.

SOUTHAMPTON -- The most notable sports news out of Southampton this week comes from the town's youth soccer program, which is asking the community for help keeping its intramural offerings running.

YOUTH LEAGUES -- Southampton Soccer Association, the town's youth soccer organization founded in 1981, says its Fall Intramural program is paused. The all-volunteer club says that "before attempting to open Spring soccer registration," it needs additional volunteers to serve as coaches and commissioners for its U6, U8 and U10 age groups, citing a decline in available help as "families transition to other sports and commitments." The club is asking anyone able to volunteer to reach out via Facebook or email at southamptonsoccer@comcast.net.

On the travel side, SSA reports that travel tryouts have been completed and lists its current travel rosters: the 2014 Girls (U13) Sirens Orange, 2014 Girls (U12) Sirens Blue, 2013 Girls (U13) Surge, 2015 Boys (U11) Vikings and 2011 Boys (U15) Kings. The club notes the Vikings "are looking to continue to develop and compete at the highest levels" and that the Kings "continue to succeed while playing at the highest levels of competition." Centennial Baseball Club's website continues to point families to in-house baseball registration, though no specific dates or deadlines were listed.
