Southampton Conservation Board Approves Three Wetland Permits, Postpones Three Others

Conservation Board · Meeting of July 22, 2026

Southampton Conservation Board opposed a Sag Harbor dock, approved three wetland permits, and postponed three others at its July 22, 2026 meeting. Chief Environmental Analyst Marty Shea recommended the Board of Trustees deny a proposed dock at 62 Laurel Lane, citing a July 13 field inspection that found an existing buffer-area covenant from 2007 being violated and documenting habitat used by the state-imperiled scarlet bluet damselfly, ranked S2 by the New York Natural Heritage Program, and river otters confirmed as active in the adjacent Long Pond-Little Long Pond system by a 2025 Sea-Tuck Environmental Association survey. "The catwalk and platform should without question be denied," Shea said.

The board voted unanimously to transmit those comments. Conditional approvals were issued to Andrew Bowman and Laura Calandra and to the Raimondi Joint Revocable Trust for a Mill Pond property in Water Mill, while applications for 41 Tarpon Road LLC, Mark Scherberneau and Donna Scherberneau, and Diane Moranis were continued to August 12, 2026.
