Plainfield Select Board Appoints Cynthia Poirier to Cultural Council

PLAINFIELD — June 9, 2026 — Plainfield Select Board seats a new Cultural Council member and clears a legal hurdle for a Finance Committee expansion. The board unanimously appointed Cynthia Poirier to the Cultural Council at its June 9 meeting, its only formal appointment of the evening. A town administrator reported that KP Law, the town's municipal law firm, reviewed the bylaws and found no conflict of interest preventing Kimberly Longy, manager of the town's broadband enterprise, from joining the Finance Committee — a finding that aligned with an earlier Massachusetts Ethics Commission ruling — clearing the way for the town to fold capital planning responsibilities into the Finance Committee's portfolio. Separately, the board discussed a written complaint from resident Paige Cerulli over 10 pigs that had escaped a neighbor's makeshift pallet pen and were endangering an injured horse on her property; members directed her to route future animal complaints through police dispatch to Animal Control Officer Claude DePont. The board also heard that David Daneski, its primary contact at KP Law, is retiring at the end of June. The meeting ended in executive session to consider "discipline or dismissal or complaints or charges brought against a public officer, employee, staff member, or individual."
