Plainfield Schedules March 3 Special Town Meeting for Police Vehicle Financing

PLAINFIELD — February 10, 2026 — Plainfield Select Board sets March 3 special town meeting to authorize police vehicle lease-purchase financing. Meeting Tuesday, board members agreed that two warrant articles are needed — one to approve the lease-to-purchase contract and one to authorize the down payment draw from the general and police stabilization funds — after KP Law attorney David Donetsky confirmed no separate acquisition vote is required under Massachusetts General Law. The board also unanimously agreed to sign a no-cost letter of engagement with the MIT Renewable Energy Clinic, which will conduct one-on-one resident interviews on solar energy and help draft a new solar bylaw for the May annual town meeting, as one of only three towns selected for the clinic's spring semester program. Draft warrant articles prepared by Temporary Police Chief Tebow and town staff member Paula are to be reviewed by Donetsky before filing with Town Moderator Rowan Hawthorne and Town Clerk Ruth Osgood.
