John James Dunleavy, Jr., 77, of Hull, Georgia, and formerly of South Hadley, died on September 1, 2026. He was raised in South Hadley, where he became an EMT and third-generation firefighter, serving for 10 years, and played in the South Hadley High School band before serving in the 19th and 173rd U.S. Army Bands during the Vietnam era. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Godwin Dunleavy; son James Dunleavy (Laurin); daughter Catherine Dunleavy (Joe Taylor); and grandchildren Mac and Eloise. Services are being handled by Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, East, of Athens, Georgia; no service date was included in the obituary. Linda Louise (Beach) Washington, 77, of Carolina Shores, North Carolina, and formerly of Holyoke and South Hadley, died on September 8, 2026, in Charleston, South Carolina. She lived in South Hadley for more than 30 years and spent 34 years teaching in the Holyoke Public Schools, including at the E.N. White School, the Maurice A. Donahue School, and the Dr. Marcella R. Kelly School. Services are being handled by Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation and Burial Services, North Charleston, South Carolina; no service date was included in the obituary.
