Heavy Rains Close Stretch Of Potwine Lane In Amherst
AMHERST — Heavy rains have compromised a section of Potwine Lane, prompting the town to close the road to through traffic between house numbers 216 and 256 until further notice. The closure comes as Town Hall also rolled out a new online hub for public records and detailed ongoing renovations at the Bangs Community Center.
TOWN HALL
The Department of Public Works closed Potwine Lane to through traffic between house numbers 216 and 256 after officials determined the heavy rain had compromised the road surface. Each end of the road remains accessible via either Middle Street or West Street, the town said, and no reopening date was given.
Separately, the town has launched a new Agenda and Minutes Center webpage. The site consolidates agendas, minutes, and links to video recordings for all town meetings in one location, replacing the need to search multiple pages for public records.
Renovations at the Bangs Community Center are continuing, with work focused on health and safety upgrades, accessibility improvements, the Senior Center, and the area adjacent to Room 101. The building will remain open throughout construction, and the town expects the project to wrap up in early 2027.
