Hadley's new Housing and Economic Development Committee voted 4-0 to ratify the chair's bid for state Housing Choice designation eligibility, which could unlock housing grants without committing the town to projects. Chair Molly Keegan said a state contact, Laura Bandara, believed Hadley would likely meet eligibility criteria based on existing affordable projects, including the approved Parmar Senior Housing development. Planning Board liaison Bill Dwyer reported a proposed senior condo development north of the senior center was continued to mid-June amid unresolved debate over affordability payment formulas, saying the board has "never been able to successfully work out a formula for what that would look like." Dwyer also flagged pending FEMA flood map changes that could raise flood insurance costs near the river.
The committee separately approved prior minutes 3-0 with one abstention and voted unanimously to adjourn.
