Hadley Board of Health Approves Naloxone Box, Moves to Fill Nurse Vacancy

HADLEY — May 14, 2026 — Hadley Board of Health unanimously approves naloxone lockbox at Goodwill and clears nurse job posting at May 14 meeting. The board voted to authorize the Amherst Health Department to place a naloxone lockbox at the Goodwill store in the Big Y plaza, which sits on the Amherst-Hadley town line, following a request from Amherst Health Director Kiko Mellon; the board also directed Health Director Ben Angelo to explore additional placements at Hadley locations through Hampshire Hope. In a second unanimous vote, the board approved posting a part-time public health nurse position at 10 to 12 hours per week, amending the draft job description to require an active RN license, replace "counseling" language with "providing information on health issues," and remove a "bilingual skills preferred" line that members said could discourage applicants. Angelo reported permit revenue for the fiscal year has reached just under $52,000 against an unofficial $60,000 target, already exceeding last year's full-year total, with six to seven weeks of peak permitting season remaining.
